Another happy homing story
We love hearing from you about how your re-homed hounds are getting on and what they’ve been getting up to in their retirement.
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

In August 2016 we adopted Kelly, some of you may remember the pictures of the birthday banner and cake as my son Connor was over the moon to realise he could actually take Kelly home for his birthday after many months as a volunteer walker.
Close to Christmas of 2016, I was doing some paperwork in the Trust's office and decided to bring one of the newbies in to the office for some fuss, chosen by the name on the board out of the new arrivals, Ben. We didn’t know what he looked liked but it was love at first site and proclaimed this brindle boy hound number two. After introductions to Kelly all seemed to go well and Ben was duly homed.
It was not an easy adoption. Ben did not like other dogs, had separation anxiety and became possessive of the sofa. However we persevered and he went to puppy training classes, had some rules and boundaries put in place and from trial and error, a diet that suits him. He is the most loving boy and would happily be wherever his hoomans are.
Ben wore his muzzle at home for around a month just to make sure he settled in with Kelly and still wears it when on his daily walks. What kept us going when things were difficult is Ben’s unfaltering love and trust in us to look after him and keep him safe. He has improved so much and there is still a little work to be done but Ben is now firmly part of the family.
