Another happy homing story
We love hearing from you about how your re-homed hounds are getting on and what they’ve been getting up to in their retirement.
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
orla
Orla (formerly Jenny, racing name Log Box)
We are all smitten with Orla, even our Son who wasn’t keen to have a dog has been won over by her. It would be hard not to.
Initially we were apprehensive, as we have never owned a dog before, so we were a little unsure as what to expect. However, Orla has settled well into family life.
We have to admit, the first few nights it was like having a newborn, but we quickly discovered she didn’t like her crate, and she now settles down on her bed(s) without any fuss at all.
The one thing we have discovered is she likes to chew, but we are managing to curb her tendencies, by telling her to ‘leave it’, although we have found out the hard way with her leads, and my phone case. We have also been through numerous toys, one Kong literally lasted 5 minutes, but we have taken delivery of a sturdier squeaky toy today, which we hope will last!
Orla is polite when meeting other dogs, and has really come out of herself over the last few weeks. She has grown in confidence and we have discovered a cheeky, playful side to her character. She loves the paddocks at the Countryside Centre, and is enjoying exploring with her greyhound friend Bessie.
We have taught her some basic commands, and she is responding well. She is bright, and after a few repetitions, she seems to understand - of course the fact that there is a treat involved helps!
All in all, we are so happy to have found her. She has become part of the family and we can’t imagine life without her.
Thank you for all your help in finding her and for responding to our many questions. We would recommend a Greyhound and Hall Green to anyone looking for a dog.
Kind regards,
Phil, Debbie, Callum & Ciara King
